Great article. I agree with your statements that what is considered news today, would not or should not even be considered for "fish and chip paper" or recycled toilet paper. My view is that it is a case of "WMD's" Weapons of Mass Distraction, providing the opioid to the masses to stop them from seeing the wolf in sheeps clothing. As we become so engrossed in the latest scandal, the latest controversey, the latest saga on the TV, and the latest performance of our sports teams, we forget that we are actually in the minority, the privilaged, and with this "as much is given, much is expected". The celeb-news enables us to create a further barrier, distance bewteen those who are marginalised and ourselves. If distance is great, at least we can profess to ignorance of the fact.

Thank you for your site.

Sadly you are correct about the news. One thing I hate is the 'live feed' from some young reporter who tells us nothing new or nothing we couldn't have worked out for ourselves.

The news and celebrity aspect is interesting in the light of Tiger Woods. Fun/Sad that the world can get so caught up in the events of a person they will never meet or see in person.
